Recently I have been using Ambi CoCoa Butter Cleansing Bar. I have been using it for two weeks and I must say after washing my face with the bar of soap I do not get that soapy film. I do get a moisturized feel, soft and smooth. On the box it says evens out skintone, the only difference in my skin is the softness , I have'nt noticed the even skintone quite yet. But I will continue to use the soap and update and let you guys know if this soap worked for me. Amazon sells this for 2.59 good price and well worth it.Comment and let me know if you use this cleansing soap and how you feel about it.

Alright my plus size ladies out there, spring is here its time to add some color to your wardrobe. I'm seeing corals, turquoise, bold flower prints, white, and bright greens. I think coral looks good on any skintone(my opinion). This particular outfit is "vintage". My previous post titled Don't sleep on Goodwill I wrote about my visit to Goodwill and this is was a Lane Bryant shirt I found for 4.00. I paired it with a pair of white pants that I had in my closet from Old Navy. The neckelace I barrowed from my mom and I think this look is very nautical.My hair is actually a the Outre Jewelry wig that I blogged about in previous post. On my face foundation is Black Opal(and I really like this)velvet from MAC, gold shimmer, and a rose color from a eyeshadow pallete I got from my local beauty supply store. FYI- I write this blog because I enjoy enjoy my blog. I am not affiliated with Goodwill or my beauty supply store in any way. I like to shop and I am trying out different ways to shop. I hope you enjoy my blog and comment and we can share ideas.

My Natural Hair Journey........

Hello all....I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a fab weekend with my daughter on the beautiful beaches of Jacksonville, FL. But what I'm writing about today is, my natural hair journey. I decided to take this journey and grow out my "natural" hair. And folks I must say...I tried....I really did....lol. But the journey had to come to an end. Gave the flat iron a try(that did'nt work), gave pinning it up a try, that was okay until the end of the day when my hair looked like the end of a Q-tip.(lol) Needless to say it was a great journey but the "natural" hair thing just was not in the cards for me. Nothing against my "natural haired" sistas if you can rock it ROCK it!!! On a serious note straightening my hair does not make me any less of a african american woman. Hence the lyrics from Andrea 3000 from the album Aquemini, "Is every dread for the cause or is every ***** with golds for the fall" This is just how I prefer to wear my hair. TO EACH IS OWN!!! Maybe I will give it a try again in the near future but for now this is how I want to wear my hair. I am absolutly loving this eyeshadow right now. It is from Iman cosmetics. Its a deep purple and I use this eyeshadow every chance I get. I paired this with a lavender color I got from my local beauty supply store. Awesome color and can be used on any skintone. The name of the eyeshadow is African Violet and I recommend anyone to get this color. The eyeshadow is darker than the pics shown above.

DYI project

I had some sandles that I was going to throw out but I decided to jazz them up a little. So what I did was make flowers out of organza and tool and added some texture by shredding the ends of the flower. So here is a before and after pic.
I think they turned out pretty snazzy. So here they are, let me know what your DIY projects are.

Designer Highlight Korto Momolu

Project Runway, I have been a fan of that show since season 1. But no one stood out the most to me then Korto Momolu. She was the runner up on season 5. And I have to say I love her designs. When she designs she designs for curvy and skinny and you can see the spirit of her homeland Liberia in her designs. Her final runway show on season 5 I just knew she was going to be first place, but unfortunatly that was not so. She just showed in Fashion week 2010 and also she has her own line of jewelry and handbags in Dillards department store. So she is a winner in my eyes. Okay about 2 weeks ago I went to a garage sale.(Love garage sales) I was on a mission, I needed a chair for my vanity. It's early in the morning, the fog is lifting, its a chill in the air. (Time for some coffee and a donut from Dunk'n Donuts) I know, I know donuts high in calories blah blah, the mood was right for a coffee and donut what can I say lol. So I'm driving around the neighborhood and I pull up to my first garage sale. I walk up to the merchandise checking out the people who are intensely looking at the things on sale. The young man having the sale comes up to me and says "morning can I help you find anything?" I told him I was looking for a chair to put at my vanity. He turns around and points to the one he was sitting in and says, "I can sell that one to you." The chair was made of real maple wood and of course I'm like that would be perfect. My next question to him was "how much?" He says "I'll sell it to you for $3.00" I was so grateful and I bought the chair. I took it home and I had to make the chair my own so I made it girly. I painted the chair chocolate brown and made a cushion out of teal and cream printed material. The cushion I used an old pillow I had laying around and the material I got from Joann's fabrics in the clearance section for 4.00 bucks. So that was my DIY project that I was proud of and I thought I would share it with you.

Okay so a few weeks back I decided to take a trip to the Goodwill and see if I can find any treasures. And I must say I was pretty pleased on what I purchased. I found a great metalic silver clutch that I can wear when I go out. It was only $2.99 great buy. I found a navy blue and white nautical blouse that came with a belt from Lane Bryant for $4.00. And a great leather tote from Wilson's Leather for $2.99. I was so excited, when they say "another man's trash (in this case woman's) is another man's treasure that is absolutly true. Goodwill will not be seeing the last of me. So when I say do not sleep on Goodwill, I mean check them out and see what treasures you can find. I wish I had pics but the camera situation..... you know coming soon.

My natural hair update!!!!!

At the start of my blog I said I will go on the journey of growing my hair back to its natural state. Well this is month four and I have not had one dose of the "creamy crack" lol. Right now I have a modest afro with small hints of my chemically relaxed hair and I refuse to cut the small strands off. But whatever lol. Remember Picture Page back in the day with Bill Cosby and the little pen he used to write with. My afro looks very similar to that. I am very proud of myself and excited to see how long my hair will get and how my hair looks in its natural state. But now I am rock'n a protective style that I really like. Inspired by Phillydiva on Youtube. I have microbraids in the front(thanks to my lil sis Purkanah) and I sewed tracks in the back. I had to give the wigs a break. By wearing these protective styles you are protecting your natural hair from any heat from the curling iron or sun damage. I wish I could show you pics but I do not have acess to a camera. But soon....real soon.

I recently saw the movie and I must say she really got in touch with the character she was playing. She deserved the award.......and her dress was stunning. Okay the other day my now five year old daughter tells me "mommy its to cold to wear dresses" and I thought you know there may be some women who actually think this. So I thought I would write about that today. A dress can be worn with a pair of thick tights or some can be worn with a turtle neck, a blazer, or a leather jacket. Depending on the style of the dress of course. So if you think can't wear a great party dress in the winter then think again. Here are some great ideas that may work for you..... with this dress you can pair this with thick tights to keep your legs warm and boots or no boots just a great shoe. To add some color a wide elastic belt around the waste would work just fine. Like a red or a tourquoise belt. with this dress you can add a sequin clutch a long neckalace and you will be good to go. So I hope a couple of these examples will give you some great ideas to find that fabo party dress. Hey you guys just wanted to share this. This is for anyone who is on a budget or just looking for some great gifts. I went into my local CVS and found this pallete of eyeshadows for $4.99. It has seventy-two colors and they are very pigmentented. I wore the eye shadow for the past couple of days and I must say the color stayed on all day. So I think this is a great buy.
Another option is this kit. This one comes with lipstick, eyeshadows, eyeliner, and mascara and this was purchased at my local beauty supply store for $16.99.

My opinion on ruffles are that they are just simply romantic, playful, and girlie.

Ruffles on purses, who would of thought. Yes this purse is very cute but please don't make the mistake of wearing this purse with a shirt with ruffles or a skirt with ruffles. The ruffles are designed to make one statement in the total look.

It came to me in a dream, I was surrounded by sequins. Sequins leggings, sequins dresses, sequins purses, sequins everything!!! Nah just kidding. But on the real I want to discuss this up and coming trend. I see them in store windows and I really, really dig them.

Okay I know what your thinking. I'm just a little too thick to be wear'n something like that. Well I beg to differ. Yes if you are curvaceous you can wear these leggings, you just have to know how and with what. Now if you pair these with a top that is not so flattering then yes there can be a bit of a problem but I found some amazing tops that will go very well with sequin leggings .

a black baby doll shirt would go amazing with these leggings, it accentuates the curves and jazzes up this top quite nicely.
A funky plaid shirt with a belt to accentuate the waistline. Perfecto!

Today I want to discuss a few basic must haves as far as accessories. Okay ladies I know most of us have tons of accessories that we have collected over the years, but today lets just talk about the ones that I think are must haves.

Hoop earrings have been around for decades and they never go out of style. There are all sort of styles. There are diamond, gold, silver, bamboo, beaded, and the new trend yarn. The list goes on and on. Now there is a science to wearing hoop earrings. I have actually purchased some and brought them home thinking they would look great and they did not because the shape of my head lol. I personally cannot wear the really large hoop earrings. I can wear medium sized to the smallest. So before purchasing hold the earrings up to your ears to see if they are the right fit. The prices of these earrings can range from $1.99 to $1,000. I found wearing your hair up or big curly hair can also make a difference on how you rock these earrinss. A crisp white t-shirt, a pair of your fav jeans, hair up in a messy bun or big curly hair can totally complete the whole style. You can purchase from any retail store.

Next are a set of bangles. I can remember wearing bangles as a young child (flashback- I know yall remember the little medal ones that came in different colors) lol yeah the ones I used to get came in a little plastic purse or pouch.
Bangles are just the right touch when wearing a bohemian style look. And also you can get these at any retail store locally or online.

Until recently you would'nt think of a scarf as a "fashion accessory". They were mainly used to keep your neck warm in the winter lol. But they have found their way as one of the top fashion accessories that you can have. The scarf can be seen worn in the summer, spring, fall, basically all year. You can wear with t-shirts, dress, jackets, without a jacket. I mostly wear my scarf with a t-shirt and jeans just a way to make a simple outfit a little jazzy.

The oversized boho purse. I personally think every woman should have one large purse. They are just classy and chic. And you can fit everything you need in it. Now maybe a woman that is petite in stature should not get this particular purse in the pic above, but just like with the hoop earrings make sure you measure the purse next to you before you purchase.

Lastly the Ballet Flat Shoe. I think this is a must have because this is a well rounded accessory. I mean you can wear this particular style of shoe with jeans, a
dress, slacks, shorts, dress it up, dress it down you name it. Without a doubt a must have.

Hello just wanted to share some info on Black Friday and for those of you who don't know what Black Friday is let me school you a little bit. Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. The usual day is the day after thanksgiving. The date this year is November 27th so mark your calanders. On this day you will more than likely get all kinds of deals on holiday gifts. The newspaper circular comes out on November 22nd, but I figure I'll give you ladies a headstart on a couple of stores. Target has $3 appliances(did you hear that?) Hey everyone, before I begin I just want to say Happy Friday!! I stepped outside this morning and I felt the cool, crisp air and immediatly I thought. It's time to rock my boots. ITS BOOT SEASON YEAH!!! Now being a plus size woman its a challenge finding stylish boots. Either you have big feet(slowly raising my hand lol), thick calfs, or you may not be able to find a comfortable heel. *SIGH* Well I'm going to make it my mission to find stylish boots for plus size women facing this challenge.
I went on the search for what style of boot I'm looking for. Me personally I am looking for something unique and different so I found this website called www.barefoottess.com. They specialize in boots from sizes 11-15! There moto is "Because style does not stop at size 10" I love that..... and here is what I found.

This particular boot is called the Mantiboah 'Buffalo Dancer Boot'. I liked this boot because of its uniqueness and style, they look comfortable and they would definatly look good paired with leggings and a long sweater.(very native american)ite is $199.00. I really like these.

Now this boot I love. It's called the Delman 'Gaiety' Boot. I love this one because its very chic, structured, and sexy.(not to mention unique) This would look good paired with tights and a sweater dress (very simple)the cost of this boot is $299.00 its on sale from its original price which was $595.00.

Last but not least, the Muk Luks 'sweater knit' Boot. I just thought these boots were cute, plain and simple. They kind of remind me of Uggs. Rock these with a pair of jeans and sweater or tunic top will bring the outfit together nicely. These are sold for $49.00.

Hi everyone I hope everyone one is having a great Veterans Day.(Shout out to all the soldiers) This is part of my blog I will call my headscarf, t-shirt, and sweat pants moments. I love fashion and glamour but sometimes you just want to throw on some sweatpants and a t-shirt. You know what I mean ladies.

Several nights ago I was getting my daughter ready for bed when I got a phone call from a good friend I have'nt talked to in awhile. She was very upset, apparently a co-worker told her she was self centered. Now I've known this person for a long time and I don't know her as being self-centered. She did the wise thing and did not respond back to this person, but apparently it struck a nerve with her because she asked me "What kind of person do you think I am?" I was kind of taken aback because I can hear the quivering in her voice as if she was about to cry. So after a few seconds of silence, I explained to her that I thought of her as strong, funny, and kind. But after that I also asked her "why do care what anyone thinks of you?" Bottom line is this, in life you are going to have people misunderstand you, talk bad about you(they are called haters and if you don't have any get some)try to take your joy away etc. At the end of the day the only being that really knows what type of person you are is God Almighty, thats all that matters. I know its hard, but this is something we need to tell ourselves everyday. Thats my moment.....I hope this helped somebody out there, this advise sure helped me. God Bless.

The infamous movie Good Hair.....

Okay we have all heard of the movie Good Hair, which I have not seen yet. But I'm gonna speak on it because I can totally relate on the subject and I have watched several interviews on why Chris Rock made the movie in the first place.
As I sat and watched the interview with Chris Rock and Oprah I am going to have to admit, it was getting under my skin. My first initial reaction was I can't believe he is putting us(black women) on blast like that. "He has some nerve!" with my arms crossed and lips pursed. "He has no idea what we go through!" I took a deep breath and listened further. The black hair industry is a 9 billion dollar industry, thats alot of dough. And I don't think he was bashing us in anyway. The previews were quite funny. But, I will say this. I think he was basically telling us as black women to relax. Its not that serious and also explaining to us we are not all Tyra Banks, Beyonce, or Oprah Winfrey. If you are Quankisha working at AT&T making 12 dollars an hour you should not be buying $1,000 weaves. We need to start being smart with our money. There was a young lady on Tyra Banks speaking on this subject and she admitted that she would spend her bill money on her hair. There are other alternatives that are just as good.(Which we will be discussing further on this blog) I will be on the hunt for these other alternatives on doing our hair to save us money. At the end of the day we as women like to look beautiful and there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't go broke doing it . Peace and love. God Bless.
